Flowers Delivery on Mother's Day

Mother's Day became an official US holiday in 1914 and is celebrated on the second Sunday of May.

Although any day is a good time to show our mothers that we care and are thinking of them, Mother's Day is particularly important just for showing a little gratitude and love.

The traditional flower arrangement to give on Mother's Day is a bundle of carnations. We give carnations because it was the favorite flower of Anna Jarvis' (the founder of Mother's Day) mom. Carnations are also the flower representing those born in January.

Carnations come in many colors, with pink and white being the most popular. Here are the symbolic meanings of the flowers to help you choose the best for your mother. Traditionally, pink carnations are given to show a mother's love.

  • Light Red - admiration
  • White - pure love or good luck
  • Purple - sometimes given as a condolence at funerals
  • Ping - pink carnations depict a mother's undying love
